Not only is JOHNSON COUNTY the largest, the fastest-growing, and the most affluent county in the state of Kansas, but it ranks favorably with all counties where Fortune's best five metropolitan locations for   work and family are located. Johnson County¹s major cities include  the county seat, Olathe, Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee,  Prairie Village, Fairway, Westwood, and Mission Hills.
     Johnson County¹s population is about 425,000 and growing at 10,000 per year.   Over 40% of the population age 25+ has a Bachelor¹s Degree.

Johnson County ranks among the top 10 counties in the nation in affordable housing.   A 2200 sq.ft., 4 bedroom home has an average cost of about $135,000.      In a recent national study done annually, Overland Park was the second-best place in the country to raise a child. The survey is  based on 219 cities with populations exceeding 100,000. Overland  Park Mayor Eilert attributed much of Overland Park's success to its schools.

The two measurable factors that attract businesses and families to Johnson County are  (1) affordable cost of living, and (2) high quality of education. 92.9% of population age 25+ have high school diplomas versus a national average of only 75.2%.

Schools: Johnson County has three major school districts: Blue Valley, Olathe,  and Shawnee Mission, and three newer ones: DeSoto, Spring Hill, and  Gardner-Edgerton.
